About us

My name is Edward Doan and I am running for SGA President. Since my first day on campus, Lamar University has provided me with wonderful experiences that allowed me to see the different facets of campus. This has led me to my involvement in Alpha Tau Omega to the Honors Student Association, work as a student researcher, orientation leader, LU Success Partner and be successful in the classroom and the field (back-to-back intramural champion). Through these experiences, I have discovered many of the unique student perspectives that make up the identity of LU. To best represent and work with students, I found my way into SGA this past year, where I have served as the SGA Secretary- Treasurer. Initially, I had sought to connect with students, but through SGA, I have been able to connect with faculty and administration as well. It is my hope, as SGA President, to bridge student and administration perspectives to better our campus as well as pay it forward to the next generation of LU students.

My name is Jack Dolce and I am running for SGA Vice President. I am studying Business Management with a concentration in Pre-Optometry. Once I complete my undergraduate degree, I plan to attend Optometry School where I will earn my Doctorate of Optometry and be a licensed Optometrist and private practice owner. My involvement on campus is best shown by my appointment as a Lamar Ambassador, my position as the Vice President of the College of Business Student Advisory Council to the Dean, and through co-founding the Pre-Optometry Professional Society (POPS), of which I am the President. Lamar University has provided me with these enriching opportunities and many more. I feel as though it is my duty to not only give back to the University, but to the students from whom I have learned, been encouraged, and received unparalleled support. As the Vice President of SGA, I would make students the first priority. Our campaign is less about us and more about you, the student. As the potential Vice President of SGA, I will collaborate with students to perpetuate the never-ending advancements of LU. These advancements are driven by the wants and needs of the student body, and I plan to work with students to have their ideas executed to the best of my ability.

My name is Haya Alani and I am running for SGA Secretary-Treasurer. My involvement on campus at Lamar University has afforded me many opportunities and allowed me to spend quality time with students of various disciplines. My involvement consists of Lamar University Ambassadors, Honors Student Association, Muslim Student Association (VP), LU Pre-Dental Society, and Vietnamese Student Association. As Secretary-Treasurer of SGA, I wish to create an environment that encourages student success, and I hope to work alongside my fellow SGA members to ensure that the interests and needs of Lamar University students are being met.Lamar University has provided me with so many amazing opportunities and allowed me to mature and grow as an individual. I have met many wonderful students, faculty, and staff that have helped me along the way, so I hope to be able to give back to this exceptional institution. I want to be a part of SGA in order to advocate for my fellow peers and enhance the overall student experience.

My name is Timesha Miller and I am a running for SGA Senior Senator. I am a double major in Exercise Science and Fitness Management and Nutrition. In Fall 2020, I plan to graduate with my Bachelors and go to graduate school for my Masters in Athletic Training. When I enter the workforce, I will work in the professional league and later retire with my own Athletic Training facility. My involvement on campus has helped shape me as a student. I was a volunteer for Cardinals Activities Board, Decorating Chair for Homecoming Committee in 2017, 2-year Orientation Leader and Morris Hall Resident Assistant. I am a member of various Executive Boards for Student Organizations such as the President and Founder of African American Female Affiliations and Public Relations Chair of Poetic Souls. I serve as the president of Resident Hall Association and am a member of Relentless, Mentors of Tomorrow, and Black Student Association. Being a student at Lamar has benefited me through building connections with and gaining skills from other students. I intend to unite the students and administrators of Lamar University as well as build a stronger bond between the Student Government Association and the student body. I would like to become a leader in SGA because I believe that I have acquired the skills necessary to successfully represent and collaborate with the student body.
